The solar partner for NGOs and international programmes in Cameroon
Since 2020, SmartSana Energies has designed, installed and maintained solar systems for health and development programmes funded by international donors: more than 40 healthcare projects, including 27 systems at 22 facilities under the TIDE programme.
Organisations we have worked with
Organisations, programmes and local councils for which we have delivered solar installations in Cameroon.
- Georgetown Global Health CameroonTIDE programme (PEPFAR / CDC): 27 solar systems at 22 health facilities in the East and Centre between 2020 and 2022, maintained every year until 2024.
- EGPAFElizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, which took over the TIDE programme in 2024: we still maintain its solar installations.
- Engineers Without Borders Switzerland7.5 kVA solar system for the Capzone rurale training centre in Bandja, West region (2020).
- PADESCSolar computer lab at Lycée Bilingue d’Essé.
- Ngambé-Tikar and Yoko councilsIntegrated health centres in Beng-Beng, Kong, Gah and Linté.
SmartSana has been very instrumental in successfully running the GGHi TIDE Project in the Eastern part of Cameroon. Their reliable PV systems paired with prompt and proactive incidence response is unmatched in the domain.
The TIDE programme, from 2020 to today
HIV testing and treatment in the East and Centre: 27 identical systems (3.5 kVA inverter, 10 kWh battery, 12 × 320 Wp panels) for cold units, centrifuges, field agents’ devices, maternity wards and electronic medical record (EMR) servers.
The TIDE programme in detail- 2020
Pilot site at Nanga-Eboko District Hospital, at the Chantal Biya Foundation.
- 2020–2021
13 sites commissioned once the pilot was approved.
- 2021–2022
8 more sites in the East and Centre.
- Late 2022
The maternity wards of 5 district hospitals: Abong-Mbang, Garoua-Boulaï, Yokadouma, Bétaré-Oya and Nanga-Eboko. 27 systems in all.
- Then
Systems upgraded to power the electronic medical record (EMR) servers.
- 2020–2024
Yearly maintenance of every installation for Georgetown Global Health.
- Since 2024
EGPAF takes over the programme; we keep maintaining the installations.
What we bring to a programme
Remote sites, covered. Assessments and installations in remote districts, from Kousséri in the Far North to the forests of the East, often far from the grid.
Many sites in parallel. A pilot site, then roll-outs in waves under the TIDE programme: 13 sites in 2020–2021, 8 in 2021–2022 and the maternity wards of 5 hospitals in late 2022.
Documentation for every site. Every installation is photographed, geolocated and described (system, uses, date), as on our project pages.
Long-term follow-up. Yearly maintenance of the TIDE installations from 2020 to 2024 for Georgetown Global Health, then for EGPAF, which took over the programme: we still maintain them.
Bilingual and compliant. A French- and English-speaking team, a company registered in Cameroon (RCCM RC/YAE/2020/A/2549, NIU P018112734983AA) and quotes itemised by brand and model.

Questions from NGOs and donors
Do you work with NGOs and international donors?
Yes. Since 2020 we have powered and maintained Georgetown Global Health Cameroon’s TIDE programme (funded by PEPFAR and the CDC), taken over by EGPAF in 2024, and we equipped the Bandja training centre for Engineers Without Borders Switzerland. We also work with public programmes and local councils.
Can you equip several sites at once?
Yes. For the TIDE programme, after a pilot site, we commissioned 13 sites between 2020 and 2021, 8 between 2021 and 2022, then the maternity wards of 5 hospitals in late 2022: 27 identical systems in all.
Do you provide documentation for each site?
Yes: every installation is photographed, geolocated and described, and our quotes are itemised by brand and model.
Do you work outside Cameroon?
Our installations are in Cameroon. For NGOs, businesses and public programmes we work on request across the CEMAC region: Gabon, Chad, Central African Republic, Congo and Equatorial Guinea.

A programme to power?
Send us the list of sites and equipment to power: we come back with an assessment, a per-site estimate and a schedule.
